Are Marines allowed to wear a colored plain T shirt, without logo or pocket, during liberty? I got sent back to the barracks to change (I just walked around they block to avoid that SSgt, because all my shirts are plain LOL)
I looked up P1020.34G and all it says is no undershirts, nothing offensive, etc. But are all T Shirts underwear unless it has a pocket or logo? Doesn’t make sense to me. It was a plain red shirt.
According to the order, USMC undershirts consist of : the white one and the green one (3036). Also in the order, it says that wearing anything revealing or wearing undershirts are not allowed (1005). There’s no other definition of an undershirt in the order, so I checked the dictionary. The dictionary definition of an undershirt is:
An upper undergarment, typically having short or no sleeves, worn next to the skin under a shirt.
But a T-shirt’s definition in the dictionary is:
a collarless short-sleeved or sleeveless usually cotton undershirt; also : an outer shirt of similar design
But wait! Both definitions are so similar. So you see, there’s a lot of gray area in-between. If it isn’t your SSGT, just ignore him and don’t be an asshole to him even though he’s being an asshole to you.
I’ve heard of SSGTs who were harassing people by standing in front of the chow hall and turning people away if they weren’t wearing a belt. Were they in the right? Sadly yes, you have to wear a belt if your pants have belt loops (1005) or you can just cut off the belt loops.
This shit occurred during the evenings. You must be thinking, don’t they have family go to? Don’t they have better things to do with their precious time? No, they don’t. Instead they chose to harass and deny Marines their food over something as stupid as not wearing a belt. The USMC is full of motards and rules to help these motards jack off the green weenie. Just don’t blow up on them and get Ninja-punched.
I used to wear nothing but plain shirts and nobody cared as long as they weren’t white or USMC green. NOBODY CARED and it was good.
3036. UNDERGARMENTS
1. Undershirts
>CH 5 a. Standard undershirts will have quarter length sleeves and have an
elliptical (crew-neck) collar. The green undershirt will be made either of
100% cotton or certified synthetic undershirt. The white undershirts are
made of 100% cotton. *another mention here about long sleeved green undershirts (They’re ok).
I do not want to be promoted to Corporal. I hate them and don’t want to be a sell-out. How can I achieve this, without getting into any trouble? I do not want an NJP. I want to keep my GI Bill.
My unit will not non-rec me, because they know I don’t want to pick up. I have been thinking of going UA during my promotion ceremony, then coming back to work as soon as it is finished. But I am scared of the ass reaming that would follow lol. Any ideas?
You need an honorable discharge to be able to use your Post 9/11 GI Bill, which kicks a lot of ass. To get such a discharge really isn’t that hard. You need pros and cons of 3.0 / 4.0. The only way to get any lower than this is with multiple NJPs.
How long have you been in? Just get promoted to Corporal. There’s nothing bad with it, although being a Lance Corporal is waaaaay easier. There are a few ways to get non-rec’d for promotions and they are: not doing your required MCIs, being fat, and being broke physically.
I just hit my two year mark. My gunny always tells me that he wants me to pick up and that he is putting me on a meritorious board. I tried not doing MCI’s but my old unit made me do them. I have 4.3/4.4 right now. I am not a shitbag or a fatass lol. I just really would hate myself if I picked up Corporal. Everyone says “you can be different and make changes!” Bullshit. Plus, Corporals are just slaves to SNCO’s anyway. I do not care about the extra pay or so called “pride” in being an NCO. I can do everything I want in the USMC as a Lance. Which is mostly just telling Corporals they can’t make junior Marines work through chow, or field day until midnight. Or use POV’s to do government work.
If you’re so gung-ho about not picking up Cpl that you’ve considered doing something so ridiculous as going UA to your own promotion ceremony, what the hell are you afraid of? Pick up Cpl and keep not giving two shits. Are the rules and regulations as a Cpl somehow MORE absolute and unbreakable than they are as a lower rank? And who the hell cares what other Cpls do that make you hate them? They aren’t you. There is no fucking magical force that makes you automatically “hated” or “a sellout” when you pick up rank; that’s all on the person. Shit, I picked up Sgt in under 3 years by virtue of the promotion system, and I gave zero fucks. Obviously that didn’t play well with higher after a while, and I certainly don’t recommend it, but use your fucking head dude, you sound like a goof.
It is a personal thing. I no longer want to be associated with the military at all. Picking up rank is becoming more involved with the organization. I would be a Noncommissioned Officer. The only reason I am not deserting is because I signed a contract, and that means something to me. But I do not want to even be a Marine any more. It isn’t that I don’t give a fuck. And I would be a sellout in my own mind. I want to be true to myself. The money and extra skating is not a good enough reward for going against my values. I thought the military would be different than it really is. I am not proud of the things I’ve had to do, and I do not feel like I made the world a better place. I honestly think the nation and the world would be better without Marines. I regret ever enlisting.
Take my advice bro: just stick it out and get an Honorable. College that pays you a shitload to go to is worth it. Or you can have your moral crusade and not a goddamn thing to show for it, not even bragging rights about having served (since you’d go out like a punk).
I met the Commandant last week (I am on Marine Corps Base Hawaii). That guy is a dick.
Oh btw, if any of you guys were at the speech, do you remember the guy who asked the question about ethics? He lives in Room ***, Building ****. The big ass new barracks. Please whoop his ass.
I thought Generals were supposed to be friendly. I mean, they do have personal chefs, drivers, assistants, secretaries, servants, slaves, ass kissers, etc. What do they have to be angry about?
Hahah, censored… Anyway, the whole damn Marine Corps got a class on ethics, as ordered by the Commandant. When Gen. Amos was about to leave and was asking for last minute questions, PFC Brown-noser stands up and asks why we needed the ethics lesson. We watched a damn video where the Commandant already answered that question. So we sat for around 30 more minutes while the General and some SgtMaj explained about ethics bs. All over the base people were talking about PFC Brown-noser. My unit had to sit through a lecture about not asking the O-10 questions that can be answered by Corporals. Word is that we (the whole USMC) will have to go to another ethics class, too. BTW if any higher ups from my chain of command read this, I will never admit to writing this!! It is someone you wouldn’t expect lol.
The General had a bunch of smart ass comments for all the Marines he talked to. He talked to us like we were shit.
Ethics Class or not, the USMC often remains unchanged. Thieves will still steal. Liars will continue to lie. Adulterers will continue to be adulterers. Often, you cannot change people’s mentalities even with a seemingly correct combination of words. The only way to change these people is with a life-altering event. Aka BRIG TIME.
i almost feel sorry for all the kids getting all excited to leave for boot this summer. poor bastards cannot be prepared for the wrath of the peacetime marine corps
Marine corps background is the best way to cover up anti social and deranged personality tendancies, not that I’m admitting to any of these tendancies, but people really do beleive jarheads are innocent and sqeaky clean. How wrong they are
Hey, hey. Uh, fairly long time reader but first time poster. Mostly because I’ve had very little to say on the subject, being a Brit and somebody who was a reservist with our army (territorials). But I love this comic, it’s awesome.
Anyways, a question. How do you guys feel about the whole ‘hero’ schtick that military people seem to get in the USA? I mean, you’re treated as these holier than thou heroes who ‘sacrifice themselves for their country’ when really it seems to me like you’re just guys doing a pretty shitty job (thanks to a shitty organization) that happens to involve getting shot at or shooting at things sometimes.
I’d love to see a comic about that – handling civvy praise.
Yeah I imagine you’re just glad to be out, K! But I very much remember going to Florida on holiday when I was around 18-19 years old and it was still that post 9/11 ‘just invaded Iraq’ era and at Sea World they actually had service members stand up whilst they played the national anthem before Shamu came on.
It was NICE in a way, I mean, I got this real sense of pride but then we get to speak to guys like yourself and we see a harsh reality to being a marine or a soldier.
All I wanted was to see some killer whales do some cool back flips…
i was really hoping the government was going to “shut down” like they said it might a couple of months ago. like, REALLY hoping. i thought it would be cool if we were annexed by canada
It would be a dream of mine to see a world without a US Marine Corps. A world where the US leaves everyone alone and lives in peace and prosperity. Our interventionist foreign policy REQUIRES us to have a Marine Corps.
I wish we could keep the USMC, but get rid of all of the bullshit. What if the USMC could still be a strong force in the military, but be just as desirable to participate in as the air force?
Did any of you guys ever get called into work on a weekend, and you quickly retorted that you were drunk and couldn’t drive there? I had a buddy who was high on weed when he got a call on his day off saying he needed to come in for a piss test. He quickly said that he was in LA and drunk, so he couldn’t make it. He never did get tested.
Hey, is this site dead? I just want to talk about the marine corps and farting. Can I do that here?

U shouldn’t make commitments

What did Ethics-man do?

These cartoons are pure genius. The funniest and most entertaining thing I’ve seeen on the entire internet!

The civilians just believe a lot of propaganda.
I don’t talk much about the military in real life. Little to none. I’ll make the next comic about civilian praise. Haha

Cool, thanks. Will fart blast the word to the others. Wonder what happened to our old home. Makes me a sad fart.
I have reason to believe that the person had insufficient funds to keep his site going. It’s a damn shame.
Sure why not.
Is this the new site for fart dudes?
