Fleet Marine Life #99 – Career Planner
During my last few months in the Corps, I had to go to the career planner for a mandatory interview. It went like something you see above. No shit, word for word.
They had two people working the career planner office. One day, they both mysteriously disappeared for some time for emergency reasons. In their place was this Lance Corporal who obviously didn’t know what the fuck she was doing. She was fucking up so badly, the Sergeant Major came and screamed at her personally. Was it really her fault though?
If I was put in charge to fly a V-22 Osprey, I would probably crash that bitch into the ground. That is, if I can take off. And you know what? I would probably get my ass chewed for it.
Lastly, this is a pile of paperwork found on top of the Career Planner’s desk.
Getting interviewed to get out since 1775.
I heard about one unit that put all their FAP guys in boot camp style squad bays and told them if they extended they would get a barracks room. They told him to fuck off. One smart person strung them along saying he wasn’t sure if he was going to extend (he knew he wasn’t), and they gave him a barracks room. He strung them along until the FAP jobs came in and they could all leave the squad bays and the barracks, then he said “No, I’m outta here.” FTMC
Haha! I like it! Deceive the deceiver!
Hotto Motto!
Once they know you’re leaving you get treated like a piece of shit. That’s why I strung everybody along saying I wasn’t sure yet about re-upping even though I knew I was getting out. They tend to treat you better if they think it’ll get you to stay in.
No better way to troll your higher ups than by telling them your not reenlisting, its the biggest slap in the face for them. my 1st sgt chewed my ass for a hour after i told him i could care less what i did as long as I was free. all those benefits aint worth shit when your on your 3rd-4th marriage like most of those douchebags. (surprise your wife isnt a marine and wont put up with your shit)
hmmm this sounds familiar!
YES!! I remember them saying we need the corps since the economy is bad, that we won’t be able to find work, etc. I had a tool of a Cpl who harassed us guys getting out saying we were worthless. I told him I will soon be learning everything for a Chemical Engineering Degree, while the only thing he has and will learn is that if he cradles the 1st Sgt’s balls he won’t have to spend as much time under the his desk.
There was so much negatively toward those who were leaving the Corps.
One Gunny even threatened to stop my VEERP package. I asked why and he said, “What are you going to do out of the Corps? You’re going to be on the street.” I told him that I saved up a lot of money and that I was going to use the GI BILL and go to college. He just scoffed at the idea and walked away. What an asshole.
My 1st Sgt (the good one) was really cool about it though. He pulled us aside and said to us “I am not going to harp on you to re-up or extend. I am simply content that you gents did your time honorably. My door is always open if you change your mind on the topic of reenlisting, but if not, then have fun at your Fap jobs and Semper Fi.” He was one of the few higher ups I ever liked.
